Real World Parents Seminar
Join us for this amazing “Real World” Parents Seminar Friday night, January 27th from 6-9pm at Nuevas Alturas in Ogden (1720 Washington Boulevard). This is an event open to all parents in Northern Utah, and is sponsored by The Huddle, a local multi-church youth ministry network that Washington Heights is a member of. Mike Kell, a pastor in Moreno Vally CA and professor at California Baptist University, will join us to kelp parents develop a “real world” approach to Christ-centered parenting. Huddle-Up Conference: Saturday, January 28th 8:45am-3:30pm
Join us on Saturday, January 28th for an amazing day of worship and learning with teenagers from churches all around northern Utah. This FREE event is designed for students and youth leaders to hang out, worship together, and learn about topics such as , apologetics (is the Bible true, does God exist?), Jesus and the Old Testament, helping friends who are struggling and contemplating suicide, following Jesus as a woman in our culture, and how to develop a deep prayer life. This is a mulit-church event, so you’ll probably see lots of friends from school who go to other churches. Head over to the Huddle Up Page to register online and download a permission form.
Newsboys Concert February 21st: We’re going to the Newsboys concert at Christian Life Center in Layton February 21st! We’ll meet at Washington Heights at 5:15pm and be back at Washington Heights around 10:30pm. The cost is $23. Horizon: An 11th/12th Grade Retreat to Jackson, WY February 17th-20th
Join us as we travel to beautiful Jackson, WY for an amazing three-night retreat on what it means to follow Jesus after high school. In Jackson, we’ll stay at First Baptist Church, worship, learn, have lots of fun, and enjoy great free-time activities such as tubing, ice skating, swimming (inside), skiing, or just shopping around town. Servant Leadership Experience to Colorado Springs, CO: June 26th-July 3rd
This summer trip will be unlike any that we’ve taken before. We’ll travel to Colorado Springs to serve and to learn how to lead as a follower of Jesus. Servant Leadership Experience provides training and service opportunities to help junior and senior high students live out the example of being a servant leader for Christ. We partner with existing service programs to help others in need while learning in a top-notch conference setting about how to be a servant leader. Registration is open and ends February 5th. Weekly Events:
GO Groups: We have several small groups (which we call GO Groups) that meet each week in families’ homes in our community. GO Groups are environments where students can build great friendships and grow in their faith in Jesus. Each group is led by at least two adult leaders. If you’d like more information about GO Groups or to get signed up into one for the fall, check out the GO Group page or just call Angie at Washington Heights at (801) 479-7030.
Sunday Mornings @ 10:30am: Our large group gather is each Sunday at 10:30am. We get together for food, friends, teaching, and worship about twice a month. NOTE: during construction (estimated completion: Spring 2012) we will meet in room 604 across the hall from the church offices.
