building | Plans To Expand

There are four major components of our plans to build/renovate:

  • Children – the plan is create additional space for an expanding ministry with children.  The vision is to create an environment that is focused on Jesus, connected with each other and fun from a child’s point of view.  There will be large group and small group spaces in what promises to be a new day for Children’s Ministry.  Imagine an environment like Vacation Bible School, only it happens each week!  It will also allow us to unify the ministry in one building and one secure location.

  • Youth – presently, our 6 – 12th grade students occupy a small part of our facility.  This age group is strategic to making an impact in our area.  We not only want to care for those students who are already here but we also want to reach out believing that God can change entire families through our youth.  In our plan, the Student Ministries would move into the lower level of the 600 wing.  That entire floor would be dedicated to our youth with both large group and small group settings along with a connection area and game room.photo

  • Worship – in a limited change to the auditorium, we would enlarge the stage area to facilitate worship and large-scale programs better.  We would also upgrade our technology in order to become a multi-site church in the future.

  • Guests – we want it to be easy for our new friends to navigate Washington Heights.  A clear entrance on the west side along with new connection areas will enable us to better engage our guests.

main entranceWashington Heights Church is debt free, meaning that all we presently have is paid for by the sacrificial giving our church family.  Some of the people currently at WHC invested in selfless and creative ways for us to enjoy what we now have.  Many others now at the church were not a part of this church family when past building efforts were pursued.  We are all benefiting from the labor of love others invested in us as they poured themselves into this work, even for those who were not yet here.  And now, we have that same opportunity on behalf of future generations.
